The former customs of Châtel, transformed into an interpretation centre, transports you into the picturesque history of smuggling in the mountains on the slopes of the Portes du Soleil at the Franco-Swiss border.

Discover the adventures of the formerly inseparable partner of the border: customs officer and smuggler. Archives, anecdotes and illustrations will give you a new look at a relatively unknown part of Chablais history. Temporary exhibition: "Everything to declare!... from the customs office to the smuggling museum". From its construction in the 1920s to the departure of the last customs officers in 2009 and the first visits to the interpretation centre, a lot has happened at the Châtel customs house ! For the 10th anniversary of its opening, the Old Customs House has many surprises in store for you, as well as a temporary exhibition looking back at the history of the building and the brigade that occupied these premises! There will be no guided tours this weekend.
