The Abbey of Abondance is located in the heart of the mountains. The photo shows the forecourt of the Abbey, with its huge grive stone façade and imposing stained-glass windows at the front.

Land of art and history

The “Ville et Pays d’art et d’histoire” label is awarded by the French Ministry of Culture to local authorities committed to promoting their architecture and heritage. The Vallée d’Abondance was awarded the Pays d’art et d’histoire label in 2003. The extension of the label to all Leman Mountains Explore communes has been approved for August 2019.
