When is the G7 summit?
The G7 summit will be held in Evian-les-Bains from 15 to 17 June. However, special measures may be deployed before and after these dates to allow for the installation and dismantling of the infrastructure required for the event.
Why are special measures being put in place?
Welcoming heads of state, international delegations and partner organisations requires special security arrangements to ensure that the event runs smoothly while preserving local life.
What areas of the region are affected?
The summit is taking place in the heart of the Chablais region. The security and organisation measures will mainly concern the areas around Evian-les-Bains and the sites mobilised for the event. The precise perimeters will be communicated by the government services.
Will traffic be maintained during the summit?
Yes, but some adjustments are planned. Traffic restrictions and controls may be introduced in certain areas to ensure the safety of the event.

How can I find out about traffic conditions?

Will professionals be able to access their place of business?
Specific measures have been taken to ensure that the local economy can continue to function. Depending on the sectors concerned, special access arrangements may be put in place.
Will deliveries be possible?
The government’s stated aim is to keep the local economy running as smoothly as possible. Businesses are nevertheless invited to anticipate their logistical needs and to follow the instructions that will be issued locally.
What is the G7 PASS?
The PASS G7 is a system designed to facilitate access to areas subject to heightened security measures for people authorised to travel or work there.
Will professionals have to take any special steps?
The procedures for obtaining the PASS G7 and the categories of people concerned are specified by the government departments. Businesses located in the areas concerned are advised to consult the official information regularly.
Can tourist accommodation continue to welcome customers?
Yes, tourist activity will continue during the summit period, subject to compliance with any safety measures that may apply in certain areas.
How should visitors’ questions be answered?
It is advisable to relay the official information published by the prefecture concerning travel, access and security measures in order to provide reliable and up-to-date information.
Should customers be informed before they arrive?
Yes, communicating in advance about access conditions, any checks and recommended journey times can help to make their stay easier.
As an accommodation provider, do I have to collect tourist tax for the police or any other G7-related personnel?
Yes, tourist tax is collected as usual (see www.ccpeva.taxesejour.fr).
Will businesses remain open?
The government has indicated that all the necessary measures are being taken to preserve local life and economic activity during the summit. Businesses can therefore continue to operate, subject to the constraints specific to their geographical area.
Will restaurants be able to welcome their usual customers?
Yes, under the conditions defined by the security measures applicable locally. Customers should be informed of any traffic restrictions.
How can I anticipate the impact on my business?
It is advisable to follow official communications, inform employees and customers of any restrictions and adapt the organisation of the establishment, if necessary, for the duration of the summit.
Are public services and emergency services still accessible?
Yes, specific measures have been taken to ensure access to healthcare, emergency services and essential services for the population.
Are schools affected?
State services are distributing information for school life when special measures are required. Families and employers are invited to consult the official communications.
What about access to Lake Geneva?
A very limited area of the lake is subject to safety measures as an extension of the land-based arrangements.
This zone will involve the closure of the Evian-les-Bains landing stage, which cannot therefore be used to serve the CGN N1 “Evian-Lausanne” line.
Connections will be transferred to two points at Thonon-les-Bains and Lugrin, where a landing stage has been set up for the G7 period.
For access to the Lugrin landing stage, where no parking is available, the local authorities will set up park-and-ride facilities.
Note that water-based leisure activities (paddling, swimming, etc.) will be able to take place under normal conditions, except in the exclusion zone identified in orange on the map below.
What about the closure of the airspace?
From Wednesday 10 June to Thursday 18 June 2026, creation of a temporary restricted zone (ZIT) and two temporary restricted zones (ZRT) for the special aviation security system.

What about Geneva?
Of the 35 Franco-Genevan border crossings, seven will remain open: Anières, Moillesulaz, Thônex-Vallard, Bardonnex, Perly, Meyrin and Ferney-Voltaire. Below is a map showing border crossings from 12 to 18 June 2026.

And what about Valais?
During the summit period, traffic may be slowed down or disrupted on certain roads leading to the French border, particularly in the Chablais region and on the Saint-Gingolph route. Longer waiting times are to be expected at border crossings due to the reintroduction of temporary controls decided by the Federal Council from 10 to 19 June. Passengers are also advised to check for any changes to rail or lake connections.
At this stage, no road closures or special restrictions have been announced in the Valais. However, the situation is still evolving and may require occasional adjustments depending on safety requirements and decisions taken by the relevant authorities.

Alternative routes, indicated on the map, are strongly recommended for users who do not need to enter the blue zone.
Information will be provided in advance in conjunction with road and network managers, including the Haute-Savoie Departmental Council.
It is advisable to postpone all non-essential travel, especially during the Somme. Teleworking should be favoured, especially as there may be significant traffic flows on either side of the Franco-Swiss border.
