Best practice

Choosing the right equipment

Before you set off, make sure you have all the necessary equipment, including a helmet, appropriate clothing for the weather conditions, plenty of water, a first-aid kit and basic repair tools.

Stay on the trails

Stay on the marked trails. It’s important to stick to the marked routes so as not to frighten off wildlife or harm the flora.

Take your rubbish with you

Don’t leave your rubbish in the countryside. Take it with you and dispose of it after your outing to avoid pollution. The mountains are a fragile natural environment, so let’s take care of them.

Preparing for a mountain bike outing
  • What do I need to know about flora and fauna?
    • Don’t pick flowers, fruit, mushrooms or any other plants in order to preserve local biodiversity.
    • Stay away from wild animals, as well as cows and patous, which may feel attacked.
    • Swimming in mountain lakes is prohibited.
    • Keep to the paths to respect the flora and fauna.
    • Keep your dog on a lead to avoid frightening the wild animals.
  • What should I do with my waste?

Keep them with you, in a well-sealed bag or pocket, and dispose of them in a bin at the end of your outing.
