With its themed gardens, Neuvecelle Park covers 5 hectares. It is designated as a remarkable natural area. The park’s mascot, the heron, lives along the edges of the park’s ponds. This walk offers the chance to explore the Royal, Ermitage, and La Verniaz hotels, as well as the Grange au Lac performance hall—all key venues of the 2003 G8 Summit. The funicular, dating from 1905, connects to downtown Evian (free, open from May through September). Another point of interest is the Maraiche Chapel, built in the 12th century by peasant monks. Its bell tower, along with a painting, a chasuble, and a silver chalice, have been designated as historic monuments since 1924. Bonus tip: Before heading back, you can take Avenue de Maraiche all the way to the Maraiche Chapel. An alternative route is available starting from the funicular’s upper station.
