The region is dotted with numerous mountain pastures, where livestock were taken during the summer months. These mountains, as the locals called them, each had their own merits and drawbacks, but some were particularly prized.

Go on a hike through the alpine pastures of Fontaine and Bise to discover local stories and traditions through the landscapes and old photographs. An easy mountain hike with a 200-meter elevation gain. Be sure to bring weather-appropriate clothing, hiking shoes, and water. Please note that there is no cell service in the area. Reservations can be made at the Tourist Information Offices in the Evian-Abondance Valley region—Leman Mountains Explore. Reservations are recommended for tours. You can book up until the last minute through the online store. Guides cannot accept cash payments under any circumstances. If a tour is fully booked, the guide has the right to refuse visitors. If a tour is fully booked, online reservations are no longer available.
