Timeless charm

In the 1920s, Auguste Florinetti, a former butler and visionary, transformed the 17th-century Savoyard farmhouse into a tea room, ‘La Potinière’, where people came to swap the latest gossip. In 1932, following years of building work, Le Grand Hôtel replaced the old barn, and Auguste had four chalets built, as well as his own home. His wife continued to run the business on her own after his death in 1935 and sold the estate to Marcel and Suzanne Verdier in 1941. They turned it into a renowned establishment, which became a veritable institution in the Chablais region.
This exceptional venue has welcomed many celebrities, including Charlie Chaplin, Elizabeth Taylor and Serge Gainsbourg.
