To make the most of the great outdoors in complete safety during the hunting season, it is important to be aware of the relevant periods and areas, particularly when you are out hiking, taking part in sporting activities or walking in the woods.

Here you will find key information, dates and advice to help you enjoy the great outdoors with peace of mind, whilst remaining vigilant and showing respect for one another.

Hunting days and zones at your fingertips!

The CHASSECO app allows you to pinpoint your location and instantly view hunting days and no-hunting zones across all local authorities in the department, displayed on a map.

Available to download free of charge from the Play Store or Apple Store, this app can also be accessed via a QR code on the information boards set up by local hunting associations at the start of the main hiking trail car parks.

Hunting by sector

Hunting days in the reserve, from 13 September and on the following days only:

  • Monday
  • Tuesday
  • Thursday
  • Saturday

Hunting days outside the reserve, from 13 September and on the following days only:

  • Thursday
  • Saturday
  • Sunday

Hunting days in the reserve, from 1 September to 30 November, and only on the following days:

  • Monday
  • Tuesday
  • Thursday
  • Saturday

Hunting by stalking only, with a maximum of two hunters per day. After 30 November, driven hunts are organised in accordance with the remaining hunting plan.

Hunting days outside the reserve, from 1 September to 17 December and only on the following days:

  • Tuesday
  • Thursday
  • Saturday
  • Sunday
  • Public holidays

Hunting on Tuesdays is by stalking only, whilst on other days it is possible to hunt with dogs. Driven hunt areas are always marked with signs.

The hunting season in the Thollon-les-Mémises area will open on 13 September 2026.

Our advice for stress-free outings

  • Find out about hunting seasons and days before going for a walk or taking part in an outdoor activity,
  • Obey the signs displayed during the hunting season,
  • Avoid entering any area marked as ‘in use for hunting’,
  • Stay on marked paths as far as possible,
  • Wear high-visibility clothing (bright colours or reflective accessories),
  • Be aware of your surroundings and avoid isolating yourself by listening to music at high volume,
  • Keep your pets under supervision and on a lead,
  • Do not attempt to interfere with a hunt,
  • Take note of the signs at the entrance to state-owned and communal forests indicating hunting dates,
  • Make yourself visible by standing in an open area; do not hide,
  • Make yourself heard by speaking, whistling if necessary, or ringing your bell (if on a bike),
  • Stay together if there are several of you,
  • For sports enthusiasts, particularly mountain bikers and trail runners, adjust your speed to suit visibility and remain particularly vigilant when approaching wooded areas,

Key advice: plan your outing in advance and check local information so that you can enjoy the mountains safely and with respect for other users.
