Where to find sports equipment self-service?

There are 5 resorts in Publier offering equipment hire at the harbour and the municipal beach

Sport at your fingertips Come and give it a go!

The municipality of Publier has broken new ground by installing self-service sports equipment stations. Easy to access, they enable residents and visitors to enjoy sporting activities with ease and without any hassle.

In Lausanne too, since June 2024, a network of 30 free multi-sport stations has been offering balls, rackets, fitness equipment, pétanque boules and more.

In Publier, the scheme is on a smaller scale but already offers a wide variety of equipment: stand-up paddleboards, table tennis bats and balls, volleyballs and pétanque balls are all freely available.

This self-service equipment is transformingthe summer experience for everyone. There’s no longer any need to carry your own kit; with just a few clicks, anyone can easily enjoy the lake. Whether it’s a relaxing stand-up paddleboarding trip at sunset, a volleyball match with friends or an impromptu game of pétanque on the beach. This open, flexible and connected approach fits perfectly with the region’s friendly atmosphere, whilst encouraging a more accessible and spontaneous approach to sport.

Complete freedom on and around the lake

Five stations (two at the port of Publier, three on Publier’s municipal beach) offer stand-up paddleboards, beach volleyballs, table tennis bats and balls, and pétanque boules, via the app. It’s all at your fingertips, whenever you like. Easy to use and designed to encourage everyone to get active, these stations offer an innovative way to enjoy the lake and its facilities.

Suitable for everyone, beginners and regular users alike can make use of the equipment at any time.

The benefits:

  • Space-saving: no need to carry your paddleboard or inflate and deflate it.
  • Promotes sporting activity: these stations encourage physical activity in urban areas.
  • Saves money: no need to spend large sums on equipment you’ll only use a few times a year.
  • Time-saving: simply unlock the station’s locker with your phone to use the equipment.

How does it work?

1. Download the app (Equip Sport).

2. Create an account:

– Surname and first name

– Date of birth (to verify you meet the minimum age requirement)

– A valid email address

– Telephone number

– Bank details (credit card) for the deposit or hourly hire Once the profile has been activated, the user can unlock a locker, track their usage time in real time and receive an alert if they exceed the allotted time.

3. Unlock the locker by scanning the QR code or using Bluetooth.

4. Return the equipment after use: users are responsible for the equipment whilst they are renting it.

Best practice and safety:

  • Respect protected areas; do not use the equipment in sensitive or unsuitable areas.
  • Wearing a lifejacket is compulsory when paddleboarding more than 100 metres from the shore; failure to do so may result in a fine.
  • When paddleboarding, attach the board with a leash to prevent it from drifting away if you fall in.
  • For your safety, do not go paddleboarding in bad weather or in strong winds.
