Discover The Portes du Soleil ski area

The Franco-Swiss Portes du Soleil ski area is one of the largest cross-border ski areas in the world. It is made up of 12 resorts and offers 600 km of skiing.

12 resorts are linked between France and Switzerland: Abondance, Avoriaz, Châtel, La Chapelle d’Abondance, Les Gets, Montriond, Morzine, Saint Jean d’Aulps, Champéry, Morgins, Torgon, Les Crosets – Champoussin.

Skiing in the Portes du Soleil

The Portes du Soleil is a veritable natural reserve of powder snow in the heart of the Alps, giving skiers the chance to make the most of 600km of fresh snow.

As well as downhill skiing, the area also offers a wide range of winter sports activities: ski touring, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, dog sledding… You won’t have time to get bored!

On the slopes, you can start in France and finish in Switzerland, and vice versa. If you’re a beginner, don’t worry: the Portes du Soleil ski area in both the French and Swiss Alps has slopes for all levels.

The Portes du Soleil area includes a number of resorts and therefore several French (ESF) and Swiss (ESS) ski schools. These include the ESF in Abondance and the ESF in La Chapelle d’Abondance, both of which are in the Leman Mountains Explore area.

  • 30 kilometres south of Lake Geneva and at the entrance to the Portes du Soleil area, Abondance is a mountain village resort with deep-rooted local traditions, and a great place to recharge your batteries. Accessible to beginners, it’s the ideal resort for discovering board sports.
