Discover A committed region

The natural wealth of Leman Mountains Explore makes it an exceptional area to protect. The Communauté de Communes, aware of the uniqueness of its environment, is undertaking a number of initiatives to preserve it by reconciling the protection of natural areas, human and agricultural activities, the development of leisure activities and raising awareness.

Sustainable development

A pioneer in terms of sustainable development, the Communauté de Communes Pays d’Evian Vallée d’Abondance, CCPEVA, has included the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals in its territorial strategy. In 2024, it was awarded the 2-star Territoire Engagé Climat-Air-Energie label for its energy and climate policy, and is also recognised as a Territoire engagé pour la Nature by the OFB, the French Office for Biodiversity.

Other labels testify to this collective sustainable development approach:

  • Blue Flag for the beaches at Publier, Neuvecelle, Evian and Saint-Gingolph
  • Station Verte for Bernex, Thollon-les-Mémises, La Chapelle d’Abondance, Publier and Saint-Gingolph
  • Accueil Vélo for Bernex and Saint-Gingolph

The preservation of resources is a strong commitment on the part of those working in the field, with a wide range of actions across the region.

A Espaces Valléens area

Aware of the need to take action on environmental issues, the Leman Mountains Explore Intercommunal Tourist Office has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative within its structure to work on the impact of its activities on the environment and society. The Pays d’Evian Vallée d’Abondance is also an Espaces Valléens area, with the aim of promoting the area as a place to live, developing seasonal wings and diversifying activities to meet new customer expectations.

Responsible and sustainable tourism

The impact of tourism on the environment is a major concern for local stakeholders. Leman Mountains Explore is committed to a responsible and sustainable approach to tourism. On every page, you’ll find the best advice or environmental tip for the area.
