Walking itinerary : La Raille chalets loop

  • A hike that takes you to the Raille mountain pasture below the Cornettes de Bise.

  • From the village center, take the road towards Chevenne, which runs alongside a pleasant stream lined with old chalets, then towards La Plagne for around 1,200 m.

    A path leads through spruce forests and clearings to the Chalet de la Raille, an alpine pasture occupied in summer by herds of Abondance cows.

    From here, you'll enjoy splendid views of the Cornettes de Bise, Mont Chauffé, Mont Jorat, the Tavaneuse massif, Mont de Grange and the Dents du Midi.

    Return via the north combe...

    1/ Leave from La Chapelle d'Abondance tourist office.
    2/ Take the road towards "Chevenne", turn left towards "La Plagne".
    3/ Take the forest path on the right towards "La Raille".
    4/ You'll come to the forest track that leads to the Chalet de la Raille.
    5/ Return via the north combe behind Chalet de la Raille. After a steep passage (secured by a chain), you descend towards "Chevenne" and return to the village.
