MOUNTAIN BIKE

A mountain bike experience on the slopes

Make the most of the gigantic Portes du Soleil ski area.

While the Portes du Soleil slopes are reserved for downhill skiing in winter, they become a huge playground for mountain bikers in summer!

Take advantage of the Portes du Soleil’s 12 resorts, 600 kilometres of pistes and 19 mountain bike lifts. Depending on your preferences, you can venture into the heart of the fir forests, hurtling down wooded paths and winding single tracks, or rub shoulders with the beautiful herds in the mountain pastures on accessible tracks and wide paths. And don’t forget the ski lifts for easy access to the circuits!

Green news

To ensure that mountain biking is environmentally friendly, use marked and authorised trails to avoid erosion and preserve the local flora and fauna.

Respect other users by slowing down or getting off the bike if necessary.

Don’t forget to close fences, and in the event of a herd or patou, get off your bike and ride around the herd if possible.

The Pays d’Evian – Plateau de Gavot FFC site is fully certified by the French Cycling Federation, a guarantee of the quality of the routes, signposting and maintenance of the network! Among the many departure points, the 5 main spots (Bernex and Thollon Tourist Information Offices, Col de la Creusaz in Bernex, Lac de la Beunaz and Collège du Pays de Gavot in Saint-Paul en Chablais) offer large-format information boards and, for the first two, very useful related services (bike wash, repair tools, etc.).

As for the terrain, you’ll enjoy the rolling countryside, moderate gradients and some more challenging and technical routes in Bernex and Thollon.

Top-of-the-range equipment

Before you set off, make sure you have all the necessary equipment, including a helmet, appropriate clothing for the weather conditions, plenty of water, a first-aid kit and basic repair tools.

Follow the path

Stay on the marked trails. It’s important to stick to the marked routes to avoid damaging the flora and fauna.

Respect above all

Don’t leave your rubbish out in the open. Keep it with you and dispose of it after your outing to avoid pollution. The mountains are a fragile natural environment, so let’s take care of them.

Anticipating your mountain bike outing to make the most of it!

There are many mountain bike trails to discover in the Leman Mountains Explore area. From Thollon-les-Mémises to La Chapelle d’Abondance, via Bernex and the Plateau de Gavot: travel between mountain and lake and explore some extraordinary landscapes.

Preparing your mountain bike outing

Two routes that are almost entirely downhill! The first starts from Thollon and offers 700 m of downhill over 12 km to Evian, while the second starts from Bernex and covers 31 km and 800 m of downhill to the Cité de l’Eau.

The practical option is to use the shuttle bus to get to the starting point with your bike.

Bernex has set up a Bikepark (supervised by patrollers) with a 400-metre gradient. You’ll meet many mountain bike champions who come here to train!

The Bikepark has 5 trails and a drop zone. Go to the Bernex tourist office for a map.
