Discovering the Land of art and history

The “Ville et Pays d’art et d’histoire” label is awarded by the Ministry of Culture to local authorities that are committed to promoting their architecture and heritage. The Vallée d’Abondance was awarded the Pays d’art et d’histoire label in 2003. The extension of the label to all the communes in the Evian-Vallée d’Abondance area was approved in August 2019.

A Pays d'Art et d'Histoire region

In 2023, the Pays d’art et d’histoire pays d’Évian-vallée d’Abondance celebrated its 20th anniversary during the European Heritage Days. For two decades, this label has united the region’s cultural players to preserve and showcase the local heritage. Various initiatives have been launched to make this heritage accessible to all: guided tours, events for the public and schools, exhibitions, publications, conferences, etc.

Explore remarkable cultural sites and discover traditions such as the making of Abondance cheese. There’s something for everyone with a passion for history and culture!
