Discover the Lake Fontaine

Discovering a small lake in a green setting

Situated in the commune of Vacheresse at an altitude of 1335 metres, Lac de Fontaine is a small marshy lake where there are often many fishermen.

Accessible to all, it is easy to walk or cycle around the lake, which is around 1 hectare in size.

Easy to reach by car from Vacheresse, it can be reached by the road leading to the chalets de Bise.

Fishing in the mountains is possible

There are often plenty of anglers on Lac de Fontaine, fishing for Fario trout or minnow.

The Fario trout can be distinguished by the small spots on its back and its colourful fins. They belong to the same family as salmon and live in freshwater rivers or shallow lakes where there is a high level of oxygen.

The minnow is a small fish that is very common in freshwater. It is very lively and often travels in shoals. Very easy to catch, it is often eaten fried.
