Discover the Lac de la Case

Situated at the foot of the Château d’Oche in Bernex and the Pelluaz ridge, discover a small mountain lake frequented by marmots.

The lake of two lakes

Lac de la Case is also known as “Lac Sud de la Case”. In fact, it has a twin, “Lac Nord de la Case”, around thirty metres away, which is almost completely filled in by vegetation.
The southern lake is thought to be fed by sublacustrine seepage. In the past, the two lakes formed a single lake that flowed down a valley towards the Chalets d’Oche.

It takes its name from an old chalet located along the path leading to the two lakes.

Departing from Bernex, at the Fétuière car park, this hike will introduce you to these two mountain lakes.

You’ll pass close to the Chalet d’Oche and its mountain pasture, then reach the Lac de la Case, often visited by marmots. Keep quiet and listen carefully for the chance to spot one!

Continue on towards the Col de la Case, where you’ll enjoy a splendid panoramic view of Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva. Then cross the Darbon mountain pastures to reach Lac de Darbon, at an altitude of 1800m.
